The Key Elements Namaz the Muslim Must Know


In the religion Islam, Salah is a key element for the ummah of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). Allah’s Last Messenger (PBUH) strictly ordered to offer the Salah, five times a day regularly. “O ye who have faith in! When ye prepare for prayer, wash your faces and your hands (and arms) to the jostles; rub your heads (with water); and (wash-down) your feet to the ankles. If ye are in a state of ritual uncleanness, wash your whole body. But if ye are ill or on a trip, or one of you cometh from offices of nature, or ye have been in contact with women, and ye find no water, then take for yourselves clean sand or earth, and rub, therewith your faces and hands. Allah doth not wish to place you in a trouble, but to make you clean, and to complete His courtesy to you, that ye may be appreciative.” (Holy Quran: 5:6)

Number of Prayers

There are five obligatory prayers which Muslims perform daily. See here with their Rakats.

Fajr

There are total 4 Rakatas in Fajr prayer. (2 Sunnat Mokadda and 2 Farz)

Zohar

There are total 12 Rakatas in Zohar prayer. (4 Sunnat Mokadda, 4 Farz, 2 Sunnat Mokadda, 2 Nafls)

Asr

There are total 8 Rakatas in Asr prayer. (4 Sunnat (optional) and 4 Farz)

Maghrib

There are total 7 Rakatas in Maghrib prayer. (3 Farz, 2 Sunnat Mokadda, and 2 Nafls)


Isha

There are total 17 Rakatas in Isha prayer. (4 Sunnat (optional), 4 Farz, 2 Sunnat Mokadda, 2 Nafils, 3 Wajibs, and 2 Nafils)

Prayers in the Light of Hadiths and Quran

Allah says many times about Salah in the Holy Quran,
“…… for such prayers are commanded on followers at definite times.” (Holy Quran: 4:103)

“There is no prayer for the one who doesn’t narrate the Opening of the Book.” (Sahih Bukhari)

So, Salah is the most important pillar of Islam for Muslims and offer the prayer regularly without any laziness. May Allah accept our Salah.
